Zari by Arizona Fine Art Photographer Chad Weed
In an attempt to keep my creative juices active and image portfolio fresh, we decided to do a fine art portrait piece with our favorite model, Zari. While the shot was inspired by another, simple studio umbrella image, I needed to go bigger... floating above the clouds near the moon sounded epic enough to me.
This fine art image was composited from 2 separate images; the moon was something I shot in my backyard a couple years ago, the rest was all done in the studio and combined with a little bit of Photoshop fine art magic.
The main image was simply lit, using a single inexpensive speed light hidden inside the umbrella. The umbrella itself is actually one of main lighting modifiers used for the majority of my recent images. I also used a second large 6' diameter umbrella with a diffusion fabric cover to help fill in the shadows and illuminate the fog. Yep the fog was really in the studio, no special effects needed. Just a cheap fogging machine you can buy at most any party store (or Walmart during Halloween).
The dress Zari is wearing was compiled by my Stylist Jennifer. She ordered a $20 dress and $40 tulle skirt off Amazon. The main dress was sleek and too form fitting, so the additional tulle skirt was needed to help create the right look.
Send me a message and let us know what you think. We love hearing the feedback.
